Chernihiv.IT ProsvITa: July 2018

24 - In July 2018, Chernihiv IT Cluster in cooperation with the Chernihiv National Technical University launched the ProsvITa training program. During the week, students had the opportunity to get acquainted with a wide range of IT industries and understand what this industry is like from the inside and what awaits them in the future when they start looking for a job.

The speakers shared their experience, successes, mistakes, and advice on where to get additional information on certain topics and how to develop using modern opportunities and technologies. Volodymyr Ananko (Acropolium) spoke about the “internal kitchen” of an IT company. Dmytro Gorin (SendPulse) revealed the world of IT managers: what they are, how they become them, and what challenges they face in such a position. Programming languages, frameworks, and technical areas were presented by Olga Miroshnichenko and Oleksii Artyuk (Astound Commerce), Sergii Stasiuk (WydeVoice), Pavlo Zheldak, and Sergii Kyslyi (Acropolium). Dmytro Shemendyuk shared UI design techniques and tricks. Yuriy Shudra (Astound Commerce) explained what a developer's job really is. Volodymyr Dubyna (Speroteck) spoke about self-education in IT and proved the importance and necessity of continuous learning and self-improvement. Olga Pyshenko (HR at SendPulse) told what to do and how to do it, and most importantly, what to avoid when writing a resume.

Chernihiv IT Cluster and students were generally satisfied with the result. We received a lot of positive feedback, as well as comments and recommendations for the future. The students talked to representatives of IT companies in our city outside their offices, got answers to their questions, interesting insights from experienced developers, and hopefully motivation for the future.

The first course of the ProsvITa program was focused on a number of topics and areas. Based on the feedback we received from the participants, we intend to conduct targeted courses for specific topics and the level of training of the target audience in the future. We are very grateful to our partner, the National Technical University of Ukraine, and personally to Serhiy Ivants, Dean of the Faculty of Electronic and Information Technologies, for their assistance in organizing the event.
